PROJECT MANAGER (ENGINEERING & CONSTRUCTION)

Department of Facilities Management

(Two, Three-Year Contractual Positions)

We are seeking highly qualified Project Managers for the management and development of construction projects under the division of Major Capital, Facilities Engineering and Development, Department of Facilities Management. These positions will work within a collaborative project management office that has a team of multi-disciplined staff who are independently delivering a wide range of challenging and innovative initiatives.

DUTIES

Reporting to the Manager, Major Capital Projects, the successful applicant will work independently on major capital and/or capital deferred renewal projects that focus on buildings, and major mechanical, electrical or civil infrastructure. Duties include working with project sponsors and internal and external stakeholders throughout all stages of project development and execution, initiating, guiding designing, planning, scheduling, executing, evaluating progress and risk, financial monitoring, problem solving and closing; gathering requirements and generating consultant RFP documents; aid in the development of construction drawings and specifications; participate in consultant selection committees; manage the procurement of contracts and oversee all phases of the subsequent construction; interpreting and reviewing Architectural and Engineering drawings, specifications and technical information both physically, on construction sites, and in various forms of documentation; overseeing the change management processes; contract review and interpretation; monitoring cash flow and budgets; regular reporting to senior management and administration on project KPIs; ensuring that the long term objectives of the University infrastructure and its operations and maintenance is well represented in the final construction; participation in on site project quality control, and deficiency identification to ensure work is in accordance with contract documents; and other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Considerable experience (10+ years) in the building construction field, at least three of which should be in a project management role; successful completion of a university degree in engineering, applied science technology or architecture; or an equivalent combination of experience and training. The ability to interact with a diverse number of client departments and maintain the project management principles under a documented project execution framework is required. Experience working in a digital environment is required. A PMP certification or other formal project management training would be considered an asset. Compliance with Memorial’s Procedure for Vaccination Requirement (COVID – 19) is a condition of employment.

SALARY $71,852 – $93,139 per annum (Management and Professional)
