Role Summary
The Fixed Income Division Program Management Office is focused on the coordination and accountability of technology projects for the FX (Foreign Exchange), Rates (Government and Interest Rate products) and Credit Complex (Corporate Credit and Municipal Bonds) trading organizations. The PMO group is a context-driven group of project managers leading budget discussions, work prioritization, and roadmap creation with a holistic technology strategy in mind. This role will support the strategic fixed income front-to-back (whole trade lifecycle) projects by being the key overseer of cross-project, cross-component dependencies, while supporting the various tech team’s deliverables. This role is best for a dynamic person that is curious about technology, solution-oriented, thrives in a diverse environment, and can work with a variety of personality types.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain continuous alignment of program scope with strategic business and operational objectives
- Create use cases and draft technical requirements pertaining to strategic work, particularly where there are cross-product and cross-component considerations i.e. trade or order flows, reference data transfers, data enrichment, etc.
- Become familiar with the needs of downstream groups like Finance and Operations ensuring successful end to end projects
- Make recommendations to modify the program to enhance effectiveness toward the business result or strategic intent
- Provide a single point accountability for the fix income front office book of work as it pertains to the front-to-back program
- Exact control by managing and reporting on conflicting priorities, issues, risks, and dependencies
- Deep-dive into established use cases and technical specs to ensure technical standards are met
- Complete or facilitate upfront analysis and breaking down of tasks – capturing information into Jira and ensuring it is right sized and ready for the squads to review
- Where applicable, provide consolidated project reporting for the various trading/business-facing organization
- Establish working relationships with our technology partners, business unit, and trading-side strategists
- Build credibility, establish rapport, and maintain communication with stakeholders at multiple levels, including those external to the organization
Eligibility Requirements
- BS required with Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Computer Science, or Industrial Engineering preferred
- Experience in institutional trading organization
- Articulate in financial products and workflow
- 5+ years’ experience in a technology group a must
- Project coordination, project management, project portfolio experience
- Previous experience in an Agile SDLC environment
- Knowledge of Jira and MS Suite with strong skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
Desired Eligibility Requirements
- MS in Business Administration, Finance or Computer Science / Technology / Information Systems a plus
- Understanding of fixed income financial products, especially interest rates and credit products
- Working knowledge of trading technology components (risk management, pricing, trade capture etc.), ECNs and broker platforms a plus
- PMP or Prince 2 certification a plus
- Ability to build or query databases (SQL, Sybase) and/or knowledge of Python a plus
- Knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, and TWiki maintenance is an advantage
