Your opportunity:

Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) is a non-profit organization that delivers an objectives-based program for massively scalable, seed-stage, science- and technology-based companies. Its mission is to accelerate the commercialization of science for the betterment of humankind. CDL is a global program with sites at Oxford, Paris, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Halifax, Atlanta, Seattle, Wisconsin, Estonia, and Berlin. The program’s objective-setting process enhances the performance of technical founders who learn from the insights of experienced entrepreneurs, increasing their probability of success. Each stream within each CDL site hosts a series of 4 annual objective-setting sessions that are the primary mechanisms by which the program is delivered. CDL sessions are complex, full-day events that may be hosted virtually or in person and that bring together participating start-ups, mentors, partners, and business students. At the end of each annual program cycle, CDL hosts a two-day event called Super Session that brings together graduating start-ups as well as mentors, partners, and students from across the network.

As the Project Manager, Technology, you will work collaboratively with the Director, Technology and Network Operations to manage and execute technical projects to support the operations of the CDL program. Key project areas will include the development of Salesforce Community Portal, delivery and improvement of core CDL operational areas (e.g. Recruitment, Sessions, Super Session), and assessment and improvement of network processes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and implementing components of IT related projects
  • Preparing standard project progress/status reports
  • Conducting needs assessments to determine end-user technical requirements
  • Analyzing, recommending and designing technical solutions for highly complex IT problems
  • Planning and estimating financial resources required for programs and/or projects
  • Serving as a resource on specific issues to a group of specialists
  • Facilitating training workshops and seminars

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Physical Sciences); or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum five (5) years recent and related experience as a project manager in a technical field
  • PMP – Project Management Certificate
  • Demonstrated success of software development and release processes
  • Management of technical product development (e.g. software or hardware)
  • Demonstrated experience with technical software (e.g. Jira, Salesforce, Slack, Airtable, Zoom, Google)
  • Demonstrated experience producing compelling communications tools for use in development, including cases for support, proposals, presentations and collateral material is required
  • Superior interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills with the ability to interact with people at various levels
  • Demonstrated professionalism, tact, and maturity in handling highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Strong team-oriented work ethic with willingness and ability to work independently and autonomously
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and work effectively in a large, complex, dynamic and sophisticated organization
