Job description: Your Opportunity:

The Provincial Training Specialist is a provincial role and is responsible for providing Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) to all Alberta Health Services staff throughout the province. Candidate may also be assigned to other secondary teaching responsibilities, including but not limited to: Officer Safety, Road to Mental Readiness (R2MR), Tactical Communications and First Aid training within Protective Services. The Provincial Training Specialist must have the ability to work independently with minimal guidance, supervision and direction. The Provincial Training Specialist acts as a critical resource of knowledge and expertise for the areas of NCI, Officer Safety, R2MR, Tactical Communications and First Aid training. Significant judgment and expertise is exercised by the Training Specialist in the offering of professional opinions to the PS Operations. Professional opinions and expertise are also given to AHS key stakeholders (clinical). This includes but is not limited to facilitation dynamics, course content and training initiatives. The position involves public speaking and teaching both the academic and physical aspects of NCI, and other courses throughout the province. Promote strong relationships and awareness between clinical and administrative staff and Protective Services. Extensive travel requirement throughout the province and expectation to be away from home for days at a time. Candidate must have access to, or own, a vehicle which is suitable for travel for all seasons of the year, and for transport of required training equipment. Days off can be random at times to accommodate need to travel during weekend hours, when required. This position requires a high level of physical fitness to teach physical components of NCI and various other programs within the TDU.

Description:

As a Trainer, you will participate in the development, enhancement and delivery of training for staff in accordance with AHS standards and practices. You will design, develop and deliver training materials that align with the training framework for various AHS applications and processes. Throughout the course development cycle, you will follow relevant standards to ensure a consistent approach for all training courses offered. Course delivery methods can include in-person and online facilitation as well as self-study online learning modules (e-learning). You will also provide excellent customer service and end user support to staff impacted by AHS applications and processes.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of post-secondary diploma in a related field. Additional Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Non GDL Class 5 Drivers License is required. Current Community Peace Officer status. Successful completion of a Physical Abilities Requirements Evaluation (PARE) with a time under 4:45 is required within 6 months of application. Strong knowledge of computer systems and applications, specifically Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Access. Preferred Qualifications:

Post-Secondary education in Security, Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice. Two years’ experience within the security or law enforcement community is an asset. Experience teaching or instructing others. Experience working with the Training and Development Unit as a volunteer or auxiliary instructor. CPI Instructor Certification.
