As a Purchasing Agent for our Regina District, you will contribute to our team by:

  • Purchase materials/assets and services as directed and in accordance with policies and procedures, using cost-effective approaches for each transaction.
  • Identify and negotiates with vendors to purchase requisitioned commodities, services, and assets while meeting criteria such as specification, price, quantity, quality, safety, and delivery date.
  • Negotiates, establishes, and applies relevant purchasing/supply agreements to daily purchases.
  • Proactively expedite and follow up on all aspects of the entire purchasing process with suppliers
  • Ensure that all purchases are conducted ethically and legally in accordance with district/company policies.
  • Develop market and marketplace knowledge and build contacts for products and services.
  • Develop and maintain constructive, cooperative and customer-focused working relationships with suppliers, internal and external customers, and projects.
  • Administers formal bid process (e.g., Requests for Quote (RFQ), technical and commercial review, bid conditioning, award); negotiates procurement details with suppliers, including contract terms and conditions and administration of the agreement throughout their term. Identify new products, services, technologies, and processes that would be of benefit to the district and bring the best value to PCL.
  • Communicates purchasing procedures to departments and projects.
  • Lead shipping/receiving activities with safety and efficiency.
  • Ensures that all equipment sent to projects is safe and operational.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

What you will bring to the role:

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in a related discipline (e.g., business, supply chain management, logistics, warehouse distribution).
  • 7 years of progressive experience in supply chain/procurement preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of commonly used construction materials, permanent/non-permanent materials, services, tools, and equipment.
  • Advanced understanding of supply chain process, project life cycle, procurement best practices, and risk.
  • Strong negotiating skills and awareness of the impact on company and projects.
  • Strong computer literacy; experience using Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lb. without restrictions.
  • Ability and willingness for potential relocation both within the province on temporary out of town project assignments and across all PCL Districts.
