Job Description
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Planning and Direction for Daily Activities of yourself and direct reports
- Optimize Time to ensure coverage of QE Responsibilities and Production Floor Support for entire group
- Manage manpower and workload across team to ensure proper coverage and provide additional support where needed
Safety
- Follow and Reinforce all Site Safety Guidelines
- Maintain Safe and Professional Work Spaces per Site Workplace Organization Standards
- Participate in Safety Observation Tours as needed
- Urgently resolve *S Safety and Ergonomic Issues
People
- Lead and manage commodity specific team of salaried Quality Engineers
- Develop Vacation Coverage Plan and back up strategy for team
- Increase Quality related skills of organization through attainment of Red X certification, BIQ/GMS compliance, Quality skills assessment completion, and professional society certifications
- Lead and coach Red X problem solving methodologies for team
- Develop and Drive Workplace of Choice initiatives
- Maintain Team Workplace Organization standards
Quality
- Liaison between engineering, supplier, and manufacturing to ensure vehicle quality and reliability
- Develop and Maintain Product Quality Standards for commodities
- Champion commodity Voice Of Customer issues
- Perform Diamond 4 through 7 Problem Solving for All VOC Metrics
- Participate and drive vehicle Quality improvement through CPIT meetings and process
- Participate in the Assembly Plant Change Management Process
- Communicate Emerging Issues Summaries for Responsible Components
- Support Quality Issue yard sweeps and develop inspection method and standards
- Coordinate Repair, Rework and Containment Activities for Identified Spills
- Ensure supplier responsible issues are documented in Supplier Practical Problem Solving system, and enforce supplier and QE team compliance for issue resolution
- Provide response to all commodity SAC and manufacturing floor issues
- Validate Suspect Reject Part Disposition
- Request Temporary Work Orders from Engineers as required to support Assembly Plant
- Document issues in PRTS and drive resolution though the CPIT Process
- Act as the voice of manufacturing in CPIT process
- Support VAPIR
- Participate in ISO Audits
- Support the PTR Process, documenting Product concerns and providing Pass/Fail feedback.
- Support Controlled Shipping Activity
- Facilitate all Supplier Visits to Manufacturing Facility
- Communicate Lessons Learned to SMTs and Validation Teams
- Support Launch activities for all future programs beginning at the first Manufacturing Build
- Support Assembly Plant Squeak & Rattle audit processes, assign and resolve identified issues
- Execute regular Squeak & Rattle Blitz workshops with Vehicle Development Teams for each vehicle program, assign and resolve identified issues
- Ensure Quality Process Audits are conducted
Responsiveness
- Assure attendance of commodity issues at respective 5F, Care, GCA, and Quality Reviews (support as required)
- Support DRR/DRL improvement initiatives
- Assigned PRTS Issues to be completed through Root Cause and ICA according to Published Targets
- Attend Quality Engineering Team standard meetings
- Support timely resolution of supplier and engineering related plant floor Ergonomics and Quality issues
Cost
- Ensure effective management of Salary attendance and Overtime tracking system
- Drive assigned Warranty Reduction Initiatives
- Document and resolve Cost Recovery associated with Supplier Quality issues
Additional Job Description
Qualifications:
Required:
- Four year degree in engineering or technical background
- 5+ years of experience
- Highly developed oral and written communications skills
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Managerial Courage

Preferred:
- Graduate level degree in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering preferred
- Team Management experience
- Quality Engineering Experience
- Supplier Quality Experience
- Red X Technical Problem Solving certification
- Manufacturing Production Floor experience
- Previous Automotive experience
- Previous Electrical Commodity experience
- Body Dimensional, GD&T, and Part Data Analysis capability
