Job description: Your Opportunity:

As a member of the collaborative, interdisciplinary team, the RN is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care and practices to full scope as defined by the College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). This position also involves actively participating in the development and coordination of discharge planning and providing leadership to LPNs and HCAs on the nursing team. The relief (float) RN will go to all 13 medicine units as required. Other key competencies for this role include: Interpersonal, organizational and assessment skills. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with the interdisciplinary team. Ability to work independently while maintain collaboration with team members. Ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workloads and work conditions. Accountability, critical thinking, time management and communication skills. Ability to respond to new needs in the role as they arise, with initiative and self-direction.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of NCCLEX. Minimum 1 year recent clinical experience required. Basic computer and email skills required. Preferred Qualifications:

Recent experience in acute care inpatient hospital setting within the last 2 years preferred. Experience working in a casual or float position preferred. Experience working within the CoACT framework preferred. Order Processing and Transcription experience preferred. Charge Nurse experience preferred. IV Certification preferred. Ventilator skills preferred.
