Job title: Registered Nurse, Specialty Education – Obstetics
Job description: Reporting to the Unit Manager, this Maternity focused position identifies, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care required to assist patients in meeting their physical, social, and psychological needs. The Registered Nurse is guided by BCCNM standards of Nursing Practice.
UNBC NURS 454 Training Program Details
- There are training positions available for this intake
- Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements, as required
- Learners should expect to make a 4 – 6 month commitment for this education, which includes online and in-person learning
- Additional study time, outside of scheduled hours, may be required to successfully complete the program
- Flexibility for practicums is necessary
- Applicants must successfully complete the education program prior to working in the department
- Applicants must be agreeable to an 18 month return of service with Northern Health in the specialty area where training was provided
Qualifications
– Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
– Current Level C CPR certification required.
– Labour and Delivery / Recovery / Post Partum: Two (2) years recent related experience with a significant labour and delivery component, working in an acute care setting and / or recent completion of an Advanced Obstetrical Certificate and / or recent Midwifery Certificate. Current Neonatal Resuscitation Certification.

– Operate related equipment.
– Teach and provide clinical supervision.
