The Registered Practical Nurse provides a leadership role within the client care team and provides care in situations in which the client’s condition is stable and the client care outcomes are predictable. Within the scope of practice, the Registered Practical Nurse promotes health, assesses and provides care and treatment by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means to attain or maintain optimal function for the client.

Required Skills:

• Registered Practical Nurse in good standing
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification
• Medication administration course and experience in the last 2 years
• Previous current experience with and demonstrated knowledge of Complex Continuing, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care clients’ needs
• Proven ability to deal empathetically with Complex Continuing, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care clients and their families
• Palliative care or hospice training courses
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history is a requirement of this position

Assets:

• Gerontology or equivalent courses
• Post diploma preparation in physical assessment for R.P.N.’s
• Fluency in both English and French

Hours of Work: Part Time Permanent scheduled up to 24 hours a week. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the SEIU collective agreement.

Salary: $30.57 – $31.17 an hour
