Reporting to Manager of 10th Level Adult Inpatient Mental Health Unit, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centered care environment. The Registered Practical Nurse will be responsible for personal patient care, vital signs, physical assessment, administration of medications, monitoring IV′s, setting up medical equipment as appropriate and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Competent to perform CPR at a Basic Life Support Level
  • Post-graduate education in psychiatry preferred
  • Current one – three years experience in acute psychiatric care setting
  • Experience in Primary nursing model
  • Community College asepsis course
  • Community College medication course
  • Course in Management of Aggressive Behaviour
  • Life skills Coaches Training Course (YWCA or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Rouge Valley’s comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area
  • Exposure to Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public
  • Demonstrated pattern of good attendance
