Job Description

As a key member of the Rehab program, the Registered Practical Nurse will perform duties within their full scope of practice in the Rehabilitation Unit. The successful incumbent will demonstrate the application of nursing knowledge through patient assessment and utilizes the Three Factor Framework to manage the full scope of practice for Rehabilitative patient care. The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and bending. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

• College of Nurses of Ontario Certificate of Registration required
• RPN Diploma or equivalent required
• National Rehabilitation Reporting System (NRS) and the Functional Index Measure (FIM) training or willingness to obtain within three months of hire required
• Current rehabilitation nursing experience required
• Knowledge of rehabilitation practices and processes required
• Demonstrated evidence of ongoing professional education in rehabilitative care preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of discharge planning and appropriate use of community resources
• Demonstrated ability to work in a patient centered, multi-disciplinary team environment is essential
• I.V. trained and certified or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire required

Excellent communication (verbal and written) and negotiating skills required

Experience with Meditech system modules preferred

Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
