VCA Canada Alta Vista Animal Hospital has an opportunity for a dedicated, experienced Veterinary Technician (RVT)to join our amazing ICU team. The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care-with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen. In this position you will be supporting our Doctors and Technician team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.

The Veterinary Technician (ICU) is a full-time permanent (average of 72 hours bi-weekly) position. Hours of work follow a rotation and are 12 hour shifts between days and overnights.

Duties will include:

Meticulous and thorough nursing care, and, monitoring of critically ill patients;

Dedicated performance of treatments including feeding, administering medications, assessing pain/status, restraint, and, lifting as identified by treatment plan;

Initiates and provides detailed client updates in person, by phone, and, electronically;

Performs accurate and consistent inventory, cleaning, and, maintenance procedures of ICU materials, equipment, and, clinical area; and,

Confidently executes complex math calculations.

Required Qualifications:

Registered Veterinary Technician or eligible to register

Fluent in English (Reading, Writing and Oral)

Able to support patients up to 50kg and lift up to 25kg.

Minimum 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician.
