What responsibilities will you have in this role?
- Assists in the development of appropriate research methodologies and implementation of research activities, (i.e., surveys, focus groups, secondary research) for internal and external projects.
- Works with the team to identify data analysis requirements for projects; participates in decisions on research methodology; identifies potential problem areas with proposed data collection, data entry, data analysis, and methodologies.
- Supports the design, implementation and analysis of surveys using web-based software for the online collection of data.
- Downloads and extracts data as required from Banner, OCAS, and other databases; creates, maintains / manipulates complex data sets to ensure data are suitable for reporting.
- Analyzes data using descriptive and inferential statistics with advanced Excel and SPSS; reviews output; identifies and resolves discrepancies.
- Acts as a student survey contact and project coordinator for the administration of the student survey (e.g. KPI) across the College; ensures required protocols for the survey are met; provides information/guidance to staff involved in the student survey; prepares and coordinates with College staff and external vendors on the distribution of related reports.
- Prepares and cleans course enrolment files for upload to the online course evaluation (Student Feedback Questionnaire) survey platform (Explorance Blue).
- Liaises with other researchers and works with external data sources and relevant bodies in the college and university system to collect information and/or to keep abreast of the latest initiatives in the College system.
- Other related duties as assigned.
What qualifications do you need for this role?
- Four year degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a research-related field covering research methodology and statistics, (e.g. Psychology, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, or related sciences).
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a research environment (research methodology, statistical analysis, needs assessment and report writing), including practical experience in supporting quantitative and qualitative research projects.
- Advanced computer literacy skills. Strong technical knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) or database software is required in order to be able to work with, organize and analyze large data sets, e.g. student enrolment statistics.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must; ability to anticipate, identify and solve inconsistencies with data.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality; strong ability in writing reports and creating presentations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with College staff and external vendors effectively.
- Demonstrated commitment in delivering excellent service to others as this is key in supporting the success of our students and our College.
- Effective ability to interact with others and deal with situations in ways that respect diverse backgrounds, experience and styles.
- Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decision-making processes.
Hours of Work: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
