Job title: Research Coordinator II – Respirology/CF Research
Job description: The Toronto Adult Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Clinic is the largest adult CF centre in North America and follows approximately 600 people with CF. The research program conducts different phases of industry and investigator sponsored clinical trials as well as supports academic research projects. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience conducting industry sponsored clinical trials for the position of Research Coordinator II to support ongoing and upcoming research studies within our program.
In this position the individual will perform research activities required in order to conduct clinical research trials including assisting with study administration, adhering to research protocols and working with the study coordinator/Investigator to carry out various aspects of conducting a clinical trial.
This position may occasionally require availability beyond regular work hours as needed. There is the possibility for extension beyond 1 year. This position will involve a mix of remote and on site work.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assisting investigators in the initiation of new research including reviewing study budgets
- Assisting investigator in the interpretation and implementation of study protocols
- Preparing REB submissions relative to the initiation and conduct of individual studies
- Designing consent forms
- Represent St. Michael’s Hospital at protocol development and study initiation meetings
- Administration of the Letter of Information and Consent Form to study participants
- Collecting data via phone calls, interviews, and within a clinical setting (e.g. height/weight, vital signs, ECGs)
- Overseeing the collection and transcription of study-related data and/or reviewing data
- Act as a research ambassador and answer questions from patients and colleagues about the clinical research trials
- Support and participate in research education initiatives
- Ensuring appropriate regulations are adhered to in the conduct of research
- Present research-related information including written study reports including preparing abstracts, posters and manuscripts
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science field (preferably with 5 years related research experience preferably Master’s Degree (with 3 years related research experience)
- Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to learn new skills.
- Superior organizational skills to manage multiple projects in a timely manner and flexibility to adapt to changing workload.
- Professionalism and self-motivation
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Certification in phlebotomy or willingness to obtain certification is considered an asset
