This position is an exceptional opportunity to become a member of the Client Solutions, Risk Management, Strategy and Products – Risk and Pricing team, you will be responsible to provide a broad range of research and analytical services that support the entire sector in the effective and efficient use of resources and in identifying risk, improvement and business opportunities with an aim to resolve problems.
Responsibilities:
- Develop or validate new models to inform business decisions and analysis and to be used for purposes such as underwriting, pricing, business analytics including financial projections, and automated systems and tools.
- Maintain models throughout their life cycle in accordance with CMHC’s model risk policy and industry best practice.
- Contribute to model development or validation projects by collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams whose members may include model users, internal modelling experts, external modelling experts and other stakeholders.
- Monitor model performance to ensure ongoing quality, and proactively identify opportunities to improve existing models and analytical tools.
- Support the migration of models from development to production system environments.
- Maintain and apply strong knowledge of best practices and recent advances in quantitative methods and analytical techniques.
- Create opportunities to improve report delivery including automation and self-service approaches.
- Develop predictive models and analyze program, product and/or service performance with a variety of analytical tools.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Postgraduate degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as finance, mathematics, economics, statistics and actuarial sciences.
- Minimum of one year of experience in modelling or quantitative analytics at a bank, insurance company, asset manager or other type of financial institution.
- Excellent experience in the use of computer based tools including SAS EG, R/Python and PowerBI
- Demonstrated experience of statistical modelling with regression and Logistic models such as Loss models, Probability of Default, Loss Given Default, scorecard models.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous analysis using critical thinking and judgment to resolve complex issues.
- Demonstrated experience working on complex quantitative analytic projects to support product, operations and business reviews and decision making;
- Demonstrated experience in the use of project management methods and tools to plan, manage and implement several projects simultaneously including projects of long duration and those involving multi-disciplinary teams;
- Demonstrated experience in the finance or insurance industry with some actuarial or financial modelling background in pricing and profitability analysis
- Strong ability to communicate in written reports a range of analytical material, recommendations and findings.
