One of our government clients is looking for a Senior Business Architect – Transit Technology and Innovation
Length: Contract term is 14 months with a possibility of extension
Location: Ottawa, ON
Role Summary:
1. Leading ongoing strategic and long-range IT planning, developing technology plans and roadmaps, and ensuring that these plans are realized through business technology initiatives.
2. Providing consultative architecture services to the branch and stakeholders
3. Providing executive summaries, the “as-is” state of:
a. Deployed transit systems and networks
b. Incoming transit systems and networks
c. Current Business Continuity Plans
d. Current Disaster Recovery Plans
e. Provide recommendations to address current gaps and issues
4. Contributing to formal and informal architecture reviews and assessments. Develop alternative solutions, advice on options, risks, cost-benefits, impacts on other business processes and system priorities.
5. Review current relationships with 3rd Party providers
6. Identify opportunities for innovative solutions
7. Assist with integration of new platforms and technologies such as:
a. Electric Buses
b. Charging Systems
8. Assist with organisational development and staffing
a. Identify gaps in skillsets or staffing
b. Suggest organizational optimizations
c. Make staffing recommendations
d. Review applications
e. Interview candidates
Responsibilities:
- Transit Services staff
- Rail Construction Program Staff
- City ITS
- Multiple Transit Technology and Innovation vendors and 3rd Party providers, including but not limited to:
o Scheidt & Bachmann Inc.
o Clever Devices
o Giro
o TELUS
o Trapeze
o STO (Société de Transport de L’Outaouais)
Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of experience related to complex technology infrastructures
- Knowledge and experience with cellular and wireline networks and devices.
- Knowledge of OC Transpo’s Fare Systems and PRESTO architecture and operations
- Knowledge of OC Transpo’s on-board ITS systems and the supporting applications and datasets, including P.25 radio
- Knowledge of the hosting technology infrastructure and network architectures in use by the Transit Technology and Innovation Branch for various solutions such as CAD/AVLC, Confederation and Trillium Line Fare Systems, Open API, customer information systems and systems security
- Knowledge of the transit-specific front-end and associated back-office applications supported and in use by OC Transpo such as Fleet Management, Scheduling, CAD, Work Management System, Bus Locator
- Knowledge of electric buses and e-bus charging technology and standards
- Ability to apply sound conceptual thinking to complex business problems and implement practical solutions
- Effective team leader, with proven communication, presentation, analytical and management skills.
- Ability to lead and work efficiently with Transit Services and City IT Operations teams
- Experience in multi-vendor system integration, including: user needs analysis, requirement specifications, modification specifications, program development and testing, systems documentation, end-user support, and systems maintenance.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or recognized equivalency
