Senior District Information Technologist

New Westminster Schools (SD40) is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and professional IT Technologist to join its Technical & Information Services (TIS) team.

As part of the TIS team, the successful candidate will contribute to the technical efficiency and evolution of our District’s Technology and Infrastructure. They will be responsible for the deployment, support, and maintenance of District hardware, software, end-user compute devices, District provisioned mobile devices, printers, accessories, including local area network (LAN) and communication services. They will provide technical support and assistance to District staff by answering questions, resolving service request tickets, and addressing or escalating any concerns or issues.

JOB FUNCTION
Reporting directly to the District Director of Information Technology this role will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties and activities:

  • Design, implement, support, and/or evolve LAN/WAN architectures
  • Design, implement, support, and/or evolve security architecture including firewalls, IDS, and/or IPS
  • Design, implement, support, and/or evolve network domain infrastructure(s)
  • Design, implement, support, and/or evolve IT Service Management practices and automation tool suites
  • Design, implement, support, and/or evolve District cloud provided services, with a focus on Microsoft 365 and Azure
  • Perform standard IT service management practices such as incident management, change enablement, and root cause analysis
  • Assist in and support incident management as required or directed.
  • Install, configure, support, and maintain District computer hardware, software, servers, systems, networks, printers, accessories including, but not limited to, scanners, mobile devices, and projectors.
  • Monitor and resolve any reported service requests (SR) for compute devices, systems, servers, networks, or cloud service issues, in a timely and professional manner.
  • Upgrade, repair, or replace District technology based on IT Asset Lifecycle and Refresh policies and standards.
  • Provide technical and technology support across all District sites in-person, over the phone, or via video conference.
  • Knowledge sharing and/or training of District staff and TIS team members.
  • On-going contribution to the creation, update, and maintenance of all TIS User Guides and/or Technical Documentation.
  • Stay abreast of IT industry trends, technologies, and best practices; make recommendations for improvements and evolution of TIS services.
  • Adhere to the District and Ministry of Education privacy laws, regulations, procedures, and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree or diploma in an Information Technology related field *
  • A minimum of 5+ years of in-depth knowledge and professional work experience designing, implementing, supporting, maintaining, and/or evolving network environments (LAN, WAN, Ethernet, WiFi)
  • A minimum of 5+ years of work experience and knowledge designing, implementing, migrating, supporting, maintaining, and/or administering Microsoft Cloud based services and solutions – Microsoft Azure Cloud Services, Windows Server, Active Directory (AD), Microsoft Exchange, and Azure Active Directory (AAD)
  • A minimum of 3+ years of knowledge and work experience with additional operating systems (iOS, Linux, and Android) will be considered an asset; candidates with these skills will be prioritized
  • A minimum of 3+ years of knowledge and professional work experience with HP IMC products and services will be considered an asset; candidates with these skills will be prioritized
  • A minimum of 3+ years of knowledge and professional work experience with PaloAlto products and services will be considered an asset; candidates with these skills will be prioritized
  • Microsoft MCSA, CompTIA A+, or MTA certification(s) will be considered and asset; candidates with these skills will be prioritized
  • A minimum of 3+ years of knowledge and professional work experience within the Microsoft 365 suite of services. Enterprise implementation, migration, and/or evolution of these specific Cloud services
  • Strong and in-depth working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Teams will be considered an asset; candidates with these skills will be prioritized
  • Strong working knowledge and professional work experience with Microsoft SharePoint Enterprise is considered an asset; candidates with these skills will be prioritized
  • Must have 5+ years of relevant professional work experience in supporting an enterprise, multi-site, and geographically dispersed environments.
  • Must have 5+ years of professional work experience supporting, maintaining, and administering compute devices such as, but not limited to, desktop, laptop, tablet, and mobile hardware including printers, scanners, and multi-function hardware.
  • Must have 5+ years of professional work experience and knowledge supporting imaging, deployment, and maintaining Windows operating systems running on associated compute hardware and management software/tools such as MDT, GPO, SCCM, SCOM, SCSM, SmartDeploy, EaseUS, etc.
  • Must have 5+ years of relevant work experience resolving information technology related hardware and software issues.
  • ITIL Fundamentals, understanding service management practices, and industry knowledge of ITSM tools (SCSM, SCOM, JIRA Service Desk, Pager Duty, Ops Genie, ServiceNow) will be considered an asset; candidates with these skills will be prioritized.
  • Knowledge of VoIP systems will be considered an asset; candidates with these skills will be prioritized.
  • Candidates with previous SRB, Atrieve, MyEdBC, Synervoice experience will be prioritized.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively within a team and independently, in an effective and organized manner, with in a complex and challenging environment.
  • Comfortable working within a fluid, dynamic, and fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, stay current regarding IT job skills and technology advancements.
  • A valid BC driver’s license is required and the ability to independently travel to various sites.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day
$34.79 hourly
