Job Description

Team

Portfolio Engineering (PE) is a team within the Data & Advanced Analytics department. PE acts as the intersection between business activities and the analytics and data of CPP Investments. PE interacts with investment operations and engineering to ensure that business logic is implemented to specifications and abstracts the analytics and data piping away from the Investment Departments (IDs) – in effect expanding ID’s strategy scope.

PE is actively growing its presence as supportive partners in core service teams such as FAR by pro-actively understand the business needs from a financial analytics and reporting perspective through on boarding capabilities to a centralized platform.

Role

We are recruiting for an Senior Analyst/Associate in PE.

The person will work directly with IDs to develop, test, and implement quantitative models and strategies; performance tunes and optimizes investment models and algorithms; and develops business intelligence dashboards to provide value-added insights and analytics to support portfolio management decision making. The successful candidate will also assist the Engineering team in developing tools and platforms for the investment team to design and monitor quantitative investment models.

Here are some of the specific examples of the responsibilities:

  • Participate in day-to-day support of portfolio managers in the Total Fund daily Balancing Process
  • Liaise with Engineering team to implement enhancements to the Total Fund Portfolio Management system
  • Analyze enterprise portfolio data and design Tableau dashboards for senior management
  • Support data related initiatives to ensure quality, sensibility and availability of data

Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience using Python (or other programming languages) and SQL
  • Comfortable analyzing and working with financial data
  • Experience with Tableau or other business intelligence tools will be an asset
  • Previous experience working in the financial industry will also be an asset
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
