As Senior Engineering Manager for Cash Flow forecasting agile squad you will lead Business Financial Services engineering team responsible for delivering the innovative solution of client cash flow forecasting as part of next-generation business online banking platform. You will work as part of a small, autonomous, agile team to deliver both internal and external applications; built on a modern hybrid cloud platform using the latest micro-services architecture.
You will drive effective collaboration with product owner and engineering leads and manage feature delivery roadmap ensuring that your team is enabling business vision and strategic focus areas through accelerated solution delivery.
What will you do?
- Work hands on with the code as well as manage, mentor and coach a small team of Front End & Back End developers
- Work with product owners to understand business requirements
- Deliver small to medium-sized well-defined tasks; Working individually or pairing with others
- Creating new services and customer-facing applications using the latest technologies which will shape the future of banking for RBC; Develop and support highly scalable, high performance APIs within an Agile development team
- Ensure high code quality through automated unit and functional testing
- Automate processes within the development pipeline; identify opportunities for efficiency gains and reducing time-to-market, and enabling continuous integration and continuous delivery
- Design and develop code structures based on technical design defined by the team
- Work within an Agile product team comprised of technical, product and business team members to deliver exceptional products
- Actively seek out knowledge about new technologies and how they can be used to solve current and foreseeable challenges
- Lead the development and adoption of best practices driving automation of software delivery and production operations, improved availability, and resiliency
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with product and engineering leads and provide point of escalation and resolution production support
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- At least 5 years of experience engineering or designing enterprise applications is required
- At least 5 years of experience in Agile delivery and CI/CD pipelines
- Practical experience leading multiple teams of engineers and working cross functionally with other areas of IT
- Strong communication and influencing skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders
- Enthusiasm, passion and drive to investigate and understand trends and new technologies
- 5+ years’ experience with Java EE, Angular 7+, Java 8, REST API/Micro services, Spring Framework (MVC, Security, JPA, Boot) Maven, SQL
- Knowledge of developing scalable applications with a combination of distributed cloud applications (Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Openshift, Docker etc.)
- Hands on experience leading design, development, testing and troubleshooting of large scale online and batch applications as well as RESTful API and interface specifications (Swagger, RAML, SOAP)
- Knowledge of security gateways and protocols (JWT, Oauth2.0, SSL Certificates)
- Knowledge of software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source code management, build processes and testing; Experience with code merging and branching methodologies using Git and code release process
- Knowledge of web-based application architectures and frameworks (Angular) and the way it integrates with services
- Micro-service design and implementation (load balancing, discovery, resiliency)
- Knowledge of Kafka, MySQL, Non-relational databases, Caching
- Knowledge of major architectures style (message oriented, reactive, event based)
Nice-to-have
- Experience building software for the financial services industry – banking, insurance or investments
- Use Dynatrace, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Docker, OpenShift, nginx
- Experience with a public cloud technology, i.e. AWS, Azure, GCP
