As a Senior Estimator for our Ottawa District, you will contribute to our team by:

  • Performing detailed and conceptual quantity take-offs and estimates including the general expense to support lump sum, construction management, and design build pursuits.
  • Organizing bid closing in preparation to meet submission deadlines.
  • Establishing team assignments and reviewing and identifying estimating review dates.
  • Performing bid evaluations and selecting the best trade contractor pricing while capturing any trade scopes gaps that may arise.
  • Developing and maintaining strong customer focused relationships with all stakeholders, including trade contractors.
  • Supervising, coaching, training and mentoring direct and indirect reports.

Qualifications

What you will bring to the role:

  • Twelve (12) years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating with 12 months of onsite experience preferred.
  • Successfully led pursuits valued from $50 to $750 million in a variety of delivery models.
  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in related discipline.
  • Knowledge and understanding of different construction methods, planning, scheduling, sequencing, with the ability to identify their associated risks.
  • Extensive knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity take-off procedures, trade contractor procurement, pricing and bid closing procedures.
  • Knowledge of market conditions and business trends, to identify competitor strengths and weaknesses to influence bid-win strategies.
  • Experience estimating multiple scopes and working knowledge of applicable products and systems.
  • Ability to analyze historical information from completed projects and apply data to inform strategic bid win strategies.
  • Ability to lead successful teams.
