As an IBM Application Architect, you directly help clients transform their business and solve complex problems. You will define the scope and vision for projects that deliver customized solutions using your knowledge of IBM platforms. You are a technical leader, serving as a liaison among business partners, technical resources, and project stakeholders.

Your Role and Responsibilities
The position of Senior Machine Learning Engineering Specialist is responsible for operationalizing machine learning solutions in production. The ML Engineer applies strong software engineering & machine learning expertise to industrialize AI/ML models in production. It requires a good understanding of data science and deep knowledge of DevOps and software engineering design principles. The individual is expected to have microservice application development background along with knowledge of analytics libraries with the flexibility to work with cloud-native MLOps technologies while embracing open-source technologies such as Kubeflow, MLflow, Prometheus, Grafana, Seldon Core. They are adept at engineering performant and robust code and applying best-in-class development frameworks.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or other related technical fields.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in a machine learning engineer role.
• Strong proficiency in Python programming language and experience in querying languages (e.g. SQL).
• Strong proficiency in refactoring prototypes of predictive and optimization models into highly performant, production-ready solutions and developing code into reusable libraries, APIs, and tools.
• Deep knowledge and proven experience with optimizing data and machine learning pipelines in a production context.
• Experience in integrating machine learning pipelines in complex enterprise architectures.
• Experience deploying machine learning models using containers and container orchestration frameworks, e.g., Docker and Kubernetes.
• Well-versed in DevOps and CI/CD deployments and experience with one or more CI/CD frameworks such as Jenkins, ArgoCD, Azure DevOps, Circle CI or GitHub Actions.
• Familiar with machine learning pipeline monitoring and optimization.
• Experience with unit testing and Test-Driven Development, including data and/or model testing using automation frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with large-scale data processing using Spark and Spark SQL and Spark Streaming.
• Experience with microservices development and integration, and designing solutions using REST-based API design.
• Comfortable working in at least one major cloud platform (IBM Cloud, Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Experience with versioning (Git) (data and/or model versioning experience will be nice to have).
• Comfortable talking with non-technical people about technical topics in a business context.
