Job description: What is the Opportunity?

As a Senior Manager, Security Consultant – Technology Infrastructure, you will provide Cyber Security expertise within RBC and act as a key risk advisor to internal business and technology clients. In this role, you will offer advisory support for initiatives in RBC’s Technology Infrastructure portfolio to ensure risk mitigation controls are properly designed and documented. You will be the primary Risk & Security Services contact for projects involving new technology initiatives and enhancements to existing systems as well as interacting with all levels of the organization as a subject matter expert to ensure consistent and effective security risk planning.

What will you do?

  • Provide consulting services to project teams and their business units to assist in their security design in order to ensure alignment with RBC standards. Review any identified security issues and recommend the appropriate controls to mitigate these risks
  • Develop and manage relationships with senior management executives and key decision makers with respect to security and risk related topics. Educate key organizational stakeholders and senior executive management on cyber security matters and impacts to the organization
  • Drive Security Risk Assessment initiatives using RBC Risk Management methodologies and tools
  • Assist and participate in Issue Management processes for capturing issues and/or risks into the Issue Management system
  • Support in assessing the security posture of RBC 3rd party engagements and outsourcing initiatives including the review of supplier security policies, logical and physical application controls, and onsite inspections if required
  • Effectively communicate and build rapport with team members, stakeholders and business partners using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close
  • Resolve complex conflicts/issues and escalate as appropriate
  • Participate in risk and security awareness raising and educational opportunities
  • Provide expertise, feedback and mentoring to build the capability of more junior staff

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 7+ years’ experience in Information/Cyber Security/Risk Management
  • Expert knowledge of Risk and Security practices; Security Policies and Standards and web technology stack
  • General knowledge: Access control; Application Development Security; Application security best practices (secure coding/testing); Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery; Information Security Governance and Risk Management; Network security; Cryptography; Mobile; Cloud; Compliance, audit, and privacy policies and regulations
  • Industry recognized qualifications/certifications in Information Security and/or Risk Management (CISSP and/or CRISC)

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge of OWASP, SANS, NIST, ISO 27001, ISF or other security-related practices
  • Other industry recognized qualifications/certifications (CISA / CCSP / CCSK / CSSLP / SABSA) an asset
  • Previous Banking/Financial Industry experience
  • General knowledge of RBC Technology Security Standards & Practices
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
