The Senior Programmer Analyst role is to be a recognized authority in Supply Chain for the design, development and support of reliable timely and robust, accurate and trusted applications and information used to drive better decisions, streamline business processes and optimize asset utilization.

The Senior Programmer Analyst role works closely with the Senior Programmer Analyst and Programmer Analysts within the team, IT and business stakeholders. Focus on continuous improvements and support of existing processes and applications in general.

As part of this collaboration, the Senior Programmer Analyst provides technical and functional mentoring to Programmer Analysts to ensure the success of project and support work at hand, as well as cross training and knowledge transfer as required.

The Senior Programmer Analyst performs a critical function in the achievement of the following goals:

  • Effectively interact with internal and external partners and systems to develop and share the information necessary in the planning and execution of the supply chain operation
  • Enhance Supply Chain processes by utilizing our technical capabilities, strong business knowledge and understanding of customer needs to scope, design, construct, implement and support business applications
  • Apply continuous improvement methodologies to decision support processes and services to exceed stakeholder expectations and foster strong partnerships.

What you’ll do

  • Provide system and application design and development expertise in the creation of new applications and processes
  • Provide recommendations on technical solution options (data and system architecture) in support of new applications and processes
  • Provide coaching and guidance to Programmer Analysts to ensure quality decision marking and achievement of the teams goals and objectives
  • Manage documentation process in support of existing and new technology builds. This includes mentoring Programmer Analysts in the creation of documentation and enforcement of industry accepted documentation standards
  • Act as primary technical liaison with external partners in support of corporately sponsored projects
  • Utilize business knowledge across multiple Supply Chain and CTR areas in order to provide effective technical solutions for various groups within and external to Distribution
  • In Collaboration with the Programmer Analysts provide frontline support for Supply Chain critical systems and applications including an on call rotation schedule for support
  • Provide second level support escalation for Programmer Analyst when required
  • Provide guidance to Programmer Analysts and business clients to identify best source for input data as well as interpreting and analyzing data
  • Provide ad hoc information, reports and databases as required
  • Communicate and interact with other Supply Chain and IT departments to investigate changes and improvements to information environments and processes being created
  • Prioritize and cope with competing and changing objectives in support of long term goals while maintaining stakeholder expectations
  • Other duties as assigned

What you bring

  • Post secondary degree in a relevant discipline
  • Thorough understanding of technology development processes (4-10 years of experience)
  • Demonstrated experience and ability initiating, developing, coordinating and executing system and application development projects with cross functional IT and supply chain teams that deliver real results
  • Experience and exposure to full lifecycle of application and database design, development, testing and implementation
  • Experience in managing multiple tasks and deadline simultaneously
  • Must have strong analytical skills to develop accurate plans and recommendations from the analysis of raw data
  • Must have technical knowledge/experience with
  • Operating Systems – Microsoft Windows
  • Database Environments – Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, NETEZZA
  • Developments Technologies – .Net (C#, ASP.Net, MVC, Rest API, GraphQL), Client Side Javascript Framework(s), MSSQL
  • Warehouse Control ERP (ie. Manhattan, JDA, SAP) an asset
  • Proven ability to facilitate formal and informal communications across all levels of organization
  • Ability to work at both conceptual and highly detailed levels in order to create new methods for capacity analysis
  • Ability to cultivate positive working relationships with business and IT stakeholders
  • Desire to thrive and contribute to a learning environment within the Decision Support Team
  • Experience in a leadership or project management role an asset
  • Experience with Business Intelligence technology and processes an asset
  • Statistical analysis / exposure with mathematics / accounting background an asset
