The Sr. Technical Product Manager, focusing on Emerging Technology Innovation is responsible for supporting the innovation, incubation and solution development of key next wave technologies that we need to position to the market. This is required to ensure protection, growth and transformation of our B2B customer base and allow entry to new markets. This role will work in a matrix team – in collaboration with the CTO and other Business Units to maximize and evolve corporate investments. Central to this role is the utilization of the partnership structure from various ecosystem players in the market – technology, services, policy, regulation to create new services or a new way of delivering services/outcomes to the market.

As the Sr. Technical Product Manager for the Emerging Technology Product team you will provide technical and services development expertise to support outcome development for the B2B organization – utilizing new technologies either in its standalone derivative or in combination to evolving digital solutions. The core emphasis for this role is to utilize various innovation strategies across technology, process and business models. This role will be critical in driving innovation positions for market for core, emerging and new growth capabilities in Canada.

What you bring to the role:

  • Strong background and expertise in Platform Business Model technical and service architecture – planning and engineering in end to end, or disruptive supply and value chains.
  • Strong background in innovation techniques particularly across the following:
  • Creative Destruction
  • Dominant Design
  • Disruptive Innovation
  • Lead User Innovation
  • Open Innovation
  • Strong background on innovation management with application to core or emerging capabilities.
  • Strong background on value-based design application.
  • Strong consulting background on IT strategy, development and implementation with emphasis on new market enablement.
  • Strong consulting, solution development competencies in various technologies, services and industries. Emphasis on Industry 4.0 solutions and user persona convergence tactics (B2B2X)
  • Proven experience in business and enterprise architecture and design
  • Very strong background in platform economy, data science and insights.
  • Strong understanding and application experience in some if not all of the following emerging technologies:
  • Digital platforms/ecosystems: Next generation OSS, BSS and Others
  • Platform economy, transaction and innovation platform business models
  • Multi-cloud/Hyperscalers
  • Blockchain
  • Automated Intelligence and Machine Learning
  • Data and Visual Insights
  • Micro-Services/API as a service
  • Others: 5G, Secure Access Service Edge, Mobile Edge Computing, SD-WAN, cybersecurity and NFV and IoT
  • Proven leadership in business development for horizontal and vertical market needs and partner enablement and activation.

Here’s what you’ll do in this role:

  • Develop solution based on emerging technologies to drive business/market outcome
  • Support innovation stream and incubation tactics to prove monetization and scaling of solutions
  • Support solution selection through corporate investment maximization or validation through partner ecosystems
  • Support packaging solutions for segments, enable entry position for new/untapped markets
  • Enable proactive benefits management
  • Lead and influence high performance and collaboration in TELUS

Qualifications

Your ideal profile includes

  • 5+ years Business Architecture, Enterprise Architecture and Product Design leadership in core and emerging markets
  • 5+ years of technology and services consulting, solution and service development background
  • 5+ years of experience in systems, data architecture applications, systems thinking, design thinking and/or UX background in solution development
  • 5+ years of strong frameworks knowledge and execution on pragmatic marketing, product management methodologies and processes
  • 5+ years, of financial analysis and business case development experience, strategy development methodologies.
  • 5+ years, of strong background in IT consulting
  • 5+ years, Solid ITIL, TMF, TOGAF and PMP and Agile Product and Project Management background
  • Strong knowledge of wireless / fixed broadband, Telecom and non-Telecom IT applications, systems, platforms and services
  • Engineering, IT or related technical degree with MBA preferred, or MBA with strong technical background and demonstrated experience/competence working with IP, wireless and related technologies, or 5+ years business background in a technology industry with relevant experience in a product management or development role.
  • Nice to have M&A and divestiture background
