Our developing Energy Transition (ET) team requires an experienced and passionate Senior Technology Engineer. We’re looking for an individual who has previous experience in the low-carbon energy space and can bring creative solutions to the changing needs of our clients. Reporting to the ET Projects & Technology Manager, and working directly with the ET Applications & Proposals Manager, the Senior Technology Engineer is responsible for developing, evaluating and adapting novel combinations of technologies and processes to provide our customers with innovative solutions.
With a foundation of integrity, the candidate would use commitment and creativity to drive our organization forward. This position could be based out of our Calgary, Alberta or Houston, Texas office. Other regions and remote work may also be considered.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties:
- Evaluate new and emerging energy transition technologies and their application in current and potential opportunities
- Evaluate the design and performance of processing equipment; ensure deliverability and reliability of suppliers to meet Customer’s specifications and timetable
- Support the proposal process from opportunity to handoff to regional applications teams
- Support the sizing, design, selection of equipment / units both internally and externally
- Develop standard flowsheets and simulations for technology solutions
- Provide customer support to sales via design conceptualization meetings, pre-bid technical meetings, etc.
- Understanding of codes and standards in the global markets we are active in
- Liaison / coordination with internal as well as external resources to develop relationships and encourage a “team” culture
- Work closely with the Energy Transition team in developing solutions for customer opportunities
- Position may require some travel
Qualifications:
- 10+ years relevant experience in the oil and gas / CCUS / petrochemical industry, preferably with design and manufacture of processing equipment / units (including but not limited to; amine sweetening, compression, dehydration, refrigeration, power generation etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- Proficiency in process simulations is a necessary requirement for the position (including HYSYS and ProMax)
- Experience and knowledge in carbon capture technologies such as absorption, adsorption, membranes and cryogenic separation is required
- Experience with Hydrogen, Biogas and Waste Heat Recovery processes is an asset
- Expert knowledge of the equipment used in our gas compression and processing industry
- Ability to lead concept project development, including process conceptualization, interregional collaboration, client / vendor interaction and presentation of concepts
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities with a desire and ability to learn
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work to meet tight deadlines
- Proficient with MS Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to achieve excellent performance in individual and team environments
- Ability to work remotely effectively and with limited supervision as needed
- Demonstrated ability for on-time performance in a fast-paced work environment
