Job description: Position Description
The Department of Geoscience within the Faculty of Science invites applications for Winter 2023 Term Sessional Instructors.
The successful candidate will have responsibilities for lecture instruction, labs, and any other associated duties for this 3-unit course during the Winter 2023 term.
Geology 333 – Igneous, Metamorphic and Ore Rocks and Processes
Origin, identification, classification, and interpretation of igneous and metamorphic rocks. Including common rock types, mineral assemblages and textures in hand samples and thin section, volcanic and plutonic processes and conditions, thermo-chemical conditions of metamorphic rock formation, introduction to ore deposits and ore minerals in hand sample, Canadian examples of ore deposits, tectonic settings of igneous, metamorphic and ore rocks.
Teaching Schedule: Lectures are MWF 12:00-12:50.
Labs are R 08:00-10:50, 11:00-13:50, and 14:00-16:50.
Delivery Mode: All course components will be delivered in-person.
Winter 2023 Term Dates: Monday, January 3, 2023, to Friday, April 28, 2023.
Qualifications:
- A graduate degree in Geoscience or a related field is required.
- Experience with the Desire 2 Learn (D2L) course management system, knowledge of best practices for assessments, and techniques for engaging students will be considered assets.
- Previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level is a strong asset.
