Description:

This is an architectural history and theory course that is intended to serve as an advanced architectural analysis and introduction to critical human geography, which by draws upon a diverse body of literatures while drawing upon a broad interdisciplinary range of fields, disciplines and practices from outside of the architectural canon that includes human geography, critical race theory, post-colonial theory, phenomenology, and other methods of architectural and spatial inquiry. Methods of analyses and course expectations will include representational and tactical devises such as drawing, mapping and coding, as well as more conventional theoretically-informed methods of written analyses. This seminar is intended to raise an awareness and build competency in their understanding of methods used in the theorization of space and place in the built environment.

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022

Estimate of the course enrolment: Approximately 20 students

Salary: Sessional Lecturer I – $8,489.67; Sessional Lecturer I Long Term – $8,869.25; Sessional Lecturer II – $9,085.58; Sessional Lecturer III – $9,301.90 per full year course

Minimum Qualifications: M.Arch degree or other Graduate degree in Architecture preferred.

Preferred Qualifications: PhD with a proven track record teaching graduate level courses.

Description of Duties: Preparation and delivery of course material; managing digital teaching materials, supervision of teaching assistants; preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations, and deferred final examinations; marking of student work, submission of grades, dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions, and student contact hours.
