Job Description :
Responsible to rapidly and reliably design and deliver Datacom design services within the Service Design and Solution Delivery team as part of customer network planning, engineering design and implementation of Datacom Networks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as Senior Specialists, Commercial networking Engineering to deliver Datacom design services within the Service Design and Delivery team as part of customer network planning, engineering design and implementation of Datacom Network
- As part of the sales quoting process they provide high level design, Bill of Materials (BOM) for Fiber services and Post-sale detailed design.
- Set and continuously improve Datacom design standards
- Liaise with other Specialist, Architects, Managers, NOC, Tech Support to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Encourage and demonstrate lean approaches, curiosity, continual learning, and empathy towards others
- Know about production issues before our customers and continually drive to reduce time-to-isolate and time-to-resolve issues
- Use appropriate escalation as required to remove roadblocks
- Promote a no blame and no fear culture where team members take calculated risks and celebrate your team’s failures as much as successes
- Foster a continuous improvement culture, one that gives trust openly and responsibility freely
- Leverage Gemba Walks to fully understand how teams work, how our internal and external customers actually use the tools
- Instill a sense of ownership with focus on quality, collaboration, and delivery which constantly demonstrating improvements in self, team, tools
- Provide coaching to team members and ongoing feedback to Sr. Manager for formal performance reviews
- Remain hands-on and be able and willing to perform any task we would ask a team member to do
- Maintain and extend our lab environments to match production as closely as possible
- Make sure bugs and issues are prioritized by the Product Owners and that they pay off any technical debt
- Proactively manage vendors to deliver parts / all of a solution
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
ACADEMIC TRAINING
University degree in Engineering (specialized in Networking) or Computer Science preferred
WORK EXPERIENCE
10+ years of Industry-related experience as a Network Engineer
5+ years of experience in Datacom network design and architecture
8+ years of experience with routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, RIPv2
5+ years of experience with TCP/IP and IP/MPLS networking, subnets, and the OSI Model
SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Passion for and demonstrated experience providing amazing customer experiences
Positive attitude and demonstrated curiosity
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. French would be an asset
Love of data analytics and problem solving
Demonstrated use of Lean methods, Continuous Improvement, and Learning throughout career
Kanban methodology and Scrum experience required
Deep understanding of Internet, wired and wireless networking standards and protocols
Genuinely positive attitude and a keen interest to continually learn, experiment, and improve self and others
Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative in identifying and resolving problems independently
Experience using Google Workspace, LucidChart, Jira,, and Confluence beneficial
