Your role

The ideal candidate is an experienced accounts payable analyst with an aptitude to drive and support process improvements at the CBC/Radio-Canada. The incumbent will have full ownership of program rights payments for English Services and will liaise with internal groups to ensure and timeliness and accuracy of payments. Reporting to the Director – Budgeting and Internal Reporting, the Specialist – Finance and Administration will be required to handle material payment requests often with short deadlines and be effective under pressure. This position requires an individual with strong communication skills who shows initiative and demonstrates good judgment in decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Create and upload purchase orders for program contracts.

Issue and authorize programming payment requests.

Review and audit contracts for financial provisions.

Review payment requests for accuracy (payee, amount, tax, etc.)

Verification that payment requests and contracts are authorized in accordance with delegated authority.

Maintain withholding tax records for Corporate Taxation office.

Liaise with Business Affairs for issuance of Goods Receipts.

Liaise with internal and external auditors.

Preparation of monthly GL reconciliations and reports.

Preparation of quarterly balance sheet exhibits.

Follow up on internal and vendor program rights payment queries.

Provide training and guidance to internal groups as required.

All other tasks, assignments, duties or projects as required by immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

A minimum of three years of related accounts payable and analysis experience.

Knowledge of ERP systems, SAP is a preference.

High level of computer proficiency and full working knowledge of MS-Office applications.

Excellent interpersonal skills and experience dealing with contacts at all levels.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail, in a fast-paced working environment.

Knowledge of program rights is preferred.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Successful completion of the third level of a professional accounting designation preferred.

Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
