The Field Services Operational Analytics team is seeking an innovative, creative and passionate individual with expertise in IT systems security, availability, database and server infrastructure support to join a team of BI analysts, developers and web programmers responsible for end-to-end business and artificial intelligence solutions.
Accountabilities include developing strategies, governance, and administering support programs focused on ensuring the highest standards of system and information security meeting or exceeding corporate security guidelines for IT infrastructure; optimizing system performance, availability and service continuity; proactive system monitoring and performance optimization for business critical applications and developing, maintaining and testing of disaster recovery processes.
The Specialist, Systems Administration will work closely with operations, web/application developers and BI analysts in leading new application development, data integration, performance monitoring, with a focus in ensuring security, service continuity and optimized performance of critical systems and processes.
Job Duties / Accountabilities:
- Lead and administer programs focused on maintaining system, application and information security, meeting or exceeding corporate security guidelines for IT infrastructure.
- Ensure an ongoing review of vulnerabilities and lead, in accordance with IT security guidelines, the implementation of required remediation strategies, patches or configuration changes from test environments to production.
- Develop and maintain proactive system health monitoring for business critical applications to optimize user experience, maximize availability and ensure stability. Lead and ensure quick trouble resolution and focused remediation to optimize long-term system availability and stability.
- Lead preventive maintenance strategies designed to ensure continuity and availability including the administration of critical information backup processes and conducting on-going storage level review. Build and lead testing of disaster recovery plan for business critical applications.
- Support of application development, deployment, data integration, within the environment. Ensure server operating system permissions configuration, deployment of application files, components, configuration of web and database services in respect of security practices and scheduled maintenance windows.
- Establish systems access governance by environment and by user categories, in accordance with Bell security practices.
- Develop life cycle plan with on-going revision of vendor support agreements. Work with infrastructure architect’s team ensuring the successful provisioning of new systems, in accordance with Bell security practices.
- Maintain full system documentation ensuring each system has a build book and review completed and maintained on an on-going bases tracking any changes.
- Work hours could include off normal periods for maintenance activities.
Essential Qualifications / Competencies:
- University or College degree in computer sciences, engineering or relevant experience in equivalent domain
- Experience with Windows Server 2012 or higher
- Experience with IIS configuration
- Experience with SQL Server 2012 or higher
- Hands on SQL ETL processes and SSIS
- Knowledge of Linux environment, Dockers, Bash command
- Responsibility and integrity to understand and respect Bell Canada security rules and information technology usage.
- Ability to prioritize and work under pressure; strong analytical / problem-solving skills with attention to detail, and good business judgement.
- Highly motivated, proactive, autonomous and flexible with the ability to adapt to a complex and quickly-changing environment.
- Ability to be decisive, remain calm, and cope with various levels of stress.
Preferred Qualifications / Competencies:
- Experience in a DevOps environment that include Jenkins and GIT
- Experience using Visual Studio and TFS
- Experience in big data environment like Hadoop is a major asset
- Experience in publishing/consuming Kafka stream is an asset
- Hands on Software Development Lifecycle
Working Conditions:
- Mobile (Weekly visits to the office)
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday with a work period between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m
- Work hours could include off normal periods for maintenance activities
