Position Overview

The Kiewit Engineering Group has an immediate opening for a Senior Engineering Manager in our Carbon Capture group. The Carbon Capture market is an exciting and rapidly growing market as the world looks to further reduce carbon emissions. Our Carbon Capture group, with over 150 engineering and design staff focused on carbon capture, is responsible for all projects related to capturing carbon in all industries, including power, industrial, oil and gas, refining, and petrochemicals.

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager who will work with our Carbon Capture engineering team to provide the full range of services in an integrated delivery system – from FEL 1 through the design and construction of the CCUS facilities. The selected candidate will be part of our rapidly growing engineering team that is responsible for engineering projects in this market.

Engineering Managers at Kiewit are an integral part of our overall project management teams with direct access to engineering and construction leaders across the organization and an ability to impact all facets of project design.

Reporting to the VP of Engineering of Kiewit Energy Canada, the Senior Engineering Manager will ensure that we continue to deliver Kiewit’s commitment to construction-focused engineering.

Location

This position is based out of our Calgary, AB location.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in our internal bid/no-bid process;
  • Support business development activities including RFP reviews, proposals, project estimates, engineering fee estimates, etc.;
  • Develop a strong understanding of customers’ current goals/objectives/plans, develop customer-specific capture plans and communicate the opportunities;
  • Maintain a strong network of industry-related individuals (OEM’s, 3rd Party Contractors, Developers) ;
  • Participate in ongoing high-level client relationships within the industry;
  • Assist with the development of proposals
  • Manage and direct the engineering project teams through effective communication, coordination and follow-up to meet project goals and objectives;
  • Facilitate effective communication between design and construction project leadership;
  • Ensure proper coordination of technical details across multiple engineering disciplines;
  • Plan and communicate the engineering resources required to support the projects;
  • Responsible for meeting engineering schedules and budgets;
  • Ensure project scope of work, schedule and budget are clearly defined and understood;
  • Direct the development of the engineering project execution plan;
  • Monitor and manage the engineering execution plan
  • Monitor and manage the engineering expenditures against the budget.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years proven experience in the oil and gas or power engineering industry with a focus on energy transition technologies and projects which included CCUS, Blue and Green Hydrogen, Methanol or Ammonia;
  • Demonstrated engineering design and management experience;
  • Strong leadership and networking skills;
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering;
  • Professional Engineering (PEng) designation preferred
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
