The Security Risk Oversight and Policy (SROP) team forms part of the Security Risk Management Office (SRMO) within Corporate Security Services (CSS) at the Bank of Canada. CSS operates under a three lines of defence model and the SROP team is the second line of defence in the Bank’s overall enterprise security risk management universe. The team partners with business stakeholders to oversee risk management practices across all Bank departments. It oversees information security risks, cyber and technology risks, physical and personnel security risks.
What you will do
The Student, Security Risk Oversight, will be primarily responsible for:
- Enhancement and management of a Risk Tracking Tool (Excel) which will assist in tracking and monitoring of risks established through oversight engagements
- Analysis of requirements and data analysis of key performance indicators (KPI)
- Generate and automate production of risk reports and security dashboard
In addition, you will:
- Updating/administering/maintaining the JIRA tool that SROP will be utilizing to operationalize initiative
- Facilitating the development and maintenance of process/control documentation
- Assisting with template development and management for all documents related to the second line of defence work
- Owning the development of some of the second line of defence document content
- Coordinating with other teams as necessary for the development of key deliverables for SROP (second line of defence and otherwise
What you need to succeed
- High proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- High proficiency in Excel (e.g., VBA, task automation using macros, shortcuts and formulas, sorting and filtering data, etc.
- Detail oriented
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Self-starter, team player and innovative problem solver
- Ability to prioritize
Your education and experience
You must be currently enrolled in a university or college program in a computer science/engineering, risk management/auditing, security studies, or a related field.
What you need to know
- Language requirement: English or French essential
- Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents
- Security level required: Reliability or Secret
- You will work remotely from any location within Canada while the Bank operates under mandatory telework. Flexibility for remote work for the duration of the term may be granted.
