The Saskatoon district is looking for a Superintendent. At PCL this means a role that is responsible for leading field operations on our construction projects. This position oversees on-site construction activities and ensure project plans and schedule are followed and that the project is executed effectively, safely and within budget. The Superintendent will have some involvement in and exposure to project pursuits and pre-construction activities.
As a Superintendent for the Saskatoon district, you will contribute to our team by:
- Visualizing an entire project, planning and creating the complete project schedule, identifying the critical path, and proactively anticipating constructability issues.
- Developing and implementing the project safety plan and leading by example for health and safety practices and procedures.
- Effectively communicating with our trade partners to ensure that performance, productivity, quality and safety requirements are met.
- Collaborating closely with project team and our trade partners to ensure construction aligns with drawings and specifications.
- Developing and implementing the Project Execution Plan and resource-loaded lookahead schedules, ensuring compliance with budget and quality.
- Reviewing and understanding the contract and subcontracts to develop a plan that identifies and mitigates risks and maximizes opportunities to ensure that all targets are met.
- Developing and maintaining strong customer focused relationships with all partners.
- Coaching, training and mentoring the project team including direct and indirect reports.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
What you will bring to the role:
- Journeyperson certificate or postsecondary diploma or degree in a related field.
- Gold Seal certification is preferred.
- 10 years of progressive field supervision experience.
- Experience with healthcare facility construction and water/wastewater infrastructure is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience implementing a strong safety culture by application of health, safety, and environment principles and legislation.
- In-depth knowledge of and experience in construction industry; including building materials, construction methods, specifications, safety and environmental principles, and procedures.
- Ability to apply engineering principles to construction plans and schedules.
- Ability to coordinate multiple scopes of a construction project, including monitoring, and coordinating our trade partners with the construction schedule.
- Thorough understanding of productivity rates and the ability to interpret cost reports.
- Detailed understanding of contract language, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks and influence opportunities.
- Working knowledge of virtual construction software and Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
- Excitement for potential relocation and temporary out of town project assignments.
