Summary
Manage the Supply Chain and Purchasing activities of the Alliston manufacturing operation in support of the overall Canadian Supply Chain Operations. This includes overall site leadership/accountability for: Inventory management, Capacity Planning, Production scheduling, Shipping, Receiving, Warehouse management, material handlers, Purchasing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner with regional supply chain on production scheduling to meet inventory targets, customer demand and service level targets. Support S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning) processes to develop and execute an agreed upon Operations plan. Act as the key plant liaison for contract customers. Provide forecasted inventory calls.
- Provide leadership of the warehousing operations and Inventory analyst to drive safety and efficiency improvements. This includes shipping, receiving, and material handling activities. Accountable for optimizing inventory turns to minimize excess and obsolete inventory through product life cycle management. Oversee inventory control and inventory accuracy in warehousing and production areas and drive initiatives to improve inventory turns. Review & Present RM/WIP inventory to Global PSM.
- Evaluate plant capacity through coordinating the analysis of production capabilities to meet both short and long term production forecasts, and integrate these requirements into capital planning
- Manage 3rd party service provides such as: Janitorial cleaning services, employee uniform services, laundry, pest control, grounds keeping, recycling, etc. Ensure the best value for these services is obtained, and ensure all service providers adopt and embrace a continuous improvement culture to drive value improvement. Establish and achieve agreed upon budgets.
- Responsible for overall MRO purchasing in the plant, including process improvements, supplier negotiations, etc to drive operational efficiencies and cost savings. This includes procurement for natural gas and electricity to satisfy the plant needs..
- Align with corporate purchasing to oversee the plant procurement function through the evaluation and negotiation with suppliers to meet cost and quality objectives, including establishing the plant raw material prices and budgeting. Meet with suppliers to discuss issues, performance and future strategies. Evaluates supplier processes and partners with suppliers to establish Best in Class performance. Collaborate with Global and Regional PSM to meet Global PSM objectives including implementing contracts for all suppliers. Responsible for meeting supplier quality management objectives including maintenance of supplier records, supplier report card program, supplier corrective action reports and supplier notice of change program. Review & Present PPV to Global PSM.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Science or Engineering
- Experience in Lean Enterprise implementation including application of various improvement tools such as Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, A3, Kaizen, visual control and 6S
- 3-5 years relevant progressive people leadership experience
- Supply Chain Management
- Type of Experience: Project Management, Logistics or Supply Chain Management , Materials Management Purchasing , Warehouse Management, MRO Purchasing, Applying Lean Principles to a Supply Chain Environment, Understand and have experience with manufacturing systems, JD Edwards, Demand Solutions
- Strong leadership skills, including leading projects with broad scope and impact outside own department, promoting teamwork between departments
- Complete, in-depth understanding of all aspects of the business including profitability, inventory turns and service levels
- Embraces change, challenges status quo and implements improvements to products and processes. Creates tools that help simplify job tasks and shares these with others
- Supervisors, coaches and develops team members, driving results through team leadership
- Ability to communicate across multiple levels of the organization
- Strong problem solving, negotiating, solutions orientation and presentation skills
- Capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought
- Advanced general software applications (MS Office)
- MRP application and Knowledge
