The BD Medication Management Solutions business combines proven technology with actionable intelligence to prevent medication errors, improve clinician productivity, increase predictability of medication availability, and improve organizational financial performance. At almost every point in the acute or non-acute medication use or management process, safety, efficiency, and costs can be favorably impacted with BD Pyxis™, BD Alaris™, BD Rowa™ Dose, BD Pyxis™ MedBank, BD IntelliCab™ and BD HealthSight™ solutions.
About the role:
The Health Information Technology Consultant is responsible for building and maintaining effective long-term relationships with IT and Informatics stakeholders within the customer base of acute care hospitals and non-acute care pharmacies in Canada. The role will work collaboratively with the commercial, marketing and sales teams to position and scope BD’s solutions in medication management with customers. The role will help to understand customer needs, goals and visions and use their industry knowledge and best practices to influence customer stakeholders and shape BD’s proposals. The Bilingual Health Information Technology Consultant will be the internal and external thought leader in Health Information Technology and Analytics within the BD Medication Management Solutions business.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategically works with sales, marketing and the customer services organization (Server Engineers, Interface Engineers, Analysts, Professional Services and Implementation teams) to position BD solutions with customers.
Functions as the voice of the Customer to provides health information technology and clinical informatics consulting support for sales, marketing and customer services.
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of health information technology and clinical informatics as it relates to the hospital-based medication management process and BD’s medication management solutions. Focusses on how data and insights can be used in the acute care hospital environment to support optimal medication-related outcomes.
Expertly performs complex customer current state assessment and creates compelling future state business cases to meet customer strategic objectives.
Experienced communicator, collaborator and influencer with stakeholders (internal and external) to drive alignment on recommendations and proposed solutions. Dynamic speaking and presentation skills and excellent business writing skills required.
Conducts technical scope with customer IT, Informatics and Data Privacy and Security stakeholders to develop and shape customer contracts for BD solutions
Collaborates with existing customers to enhance their utilization of data and actionable insights from our medication management solutions.
Demonstrates leadership by being customer focused, displaying strategic thinking, having a global and company mindset, focusing on results, skill growth, and continuous improvement.
Handles multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizes tasks based on organizational need and judgment, and handles working independently in remote environment productively.
Stays active and engaged with important healthcare related organizations to stay abreast of healthcare trends and changes in health information technology and clinical informatics that impact our business and customers. Acts as a thought leader to readily share knowledge with internal and external customers.
Utilizes up to date knowledge of the healthcare industry to provide input for new product development and technology enhancements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required in computer sciences, information systems, health information technology or clinical informatics preferred; Advanced degree preferred
5+ years of experience with health information technology and clinical informatics in an acute care hospital environment or industry
Proficiency with IT standards, frameworks and security
Experience with pharmacy medication automated dispensing cabinets, infusion systems and clinical informatics software and analytics an asset
National role working across Canada with up to 50% travel required
Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
