The Technology Lead is a hybrid role at Apply that has both discipline leadership responsibilities and project delivery responsibilities. The Technology Lead is responsible for setting the direction of an engineering sub-discipline and is also accountable for the quality and timely completion of the technical deliverables for any project they are leading. This is a role that comprises aspects of software engineering, system architecture and team leadership. The Technology Lead fosters a positive and inclusive culture in their engineering sub-discipline and promotes a calm, supportive and solution-oriented atmosphere within their project teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Works with the Product & Software Engineering disciplines to define the architecture and technology stack for a project.
• Ensures that documentation remains up to date so that the team can understand how the various components of the solution interact.
• The Technology Lead acts as a single point of contact for the client in all technical matters. They should be able to present and explain solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Responsible for helping team members remove technical blockers.
• Works with the project manager to identify risks to the timely delivery of the project, and proposed solutions to mitigate them.
• Champions craftsmanship. The Technology Lead should encourage software development principles such as DRY and SOLID.
• Responsible for handling their direct reports during their time at Apply. This includes mentorship, performance assessments, and providing feedback.
• Responsible for helping define and update the roles & responsibilities matrix to ensure that discipline members are aware of where they stand and how they may progress to the next stage
• Works with the project management team on incoming projects to ensure that the delivery team is appropriately resourced and allocated
• Keeps up to date with the latest technology trends, to help set the direction for the discipline. This can be through project work, or by doing evaluations of up-and-coming technology through self-contained investigative projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Demonstrated knowledge of software development best practices, such as DRY and SOLID, and how they support the SDLC
• Experience in implementing a Headless CMS solution (bonus if it is Contentful)
• Experience in architecting and integrating enterprise solutions that span multiple teams
• Experience with modern software development tools and frameworks, such as React, Next, AWS, and Terraform.
• Understanding of MarTech tools such as Optimizely, GTM, and Analytics
• Top-notch communication skills

• Self-starter; able to juggle multiple projects at once
