Job Overview

Job title: Trainee Science Teacher

Job description: Are you a graduate looking for a rewarding, exciting career that allows you to use your knowledge and passion for our world and the people in it? Have you thought about pursuing a career in teaching but not sure where to start? Well, we have an opening for a Trainee Science Teacher.

Our vacancy is located in Penrith, Cumbria and the school is proud to provide a high-quality education for the community that we serve, encouraging a culture of aspiration and ambition. This very close and diverse community has the highest of ambitions for all its students, therefore their ideal candidate will be happy to encourage and promote this to their students. Warm and honest relationships are at the heart of their work and are based upon genuine mutual respect. Their key aim is to develop an aspirational culture and to encourage all students to challenge themselves, naturally in the academic curriculum but also in every other sphere of a truly extensive enrichment programme.

The Teaching Apprenticeship Programme (TAP) can provide you with the opportunity to gain Qualified Teacher Status in a school that describes themselves as a happy, vibrant and exciting community. The successful candidate will work as part of their team aiming to transform the lives of their students through learning. This apprenticeship uses a practical, hands-on approach, where regardless of your previous experience you can benefit from quality training, valuable experience and support from qualified teachers throughout your year as a Trainee Science Teacher.

Your role as a Trainee Science Teacher would involve you working in a school from the beginning, aided and assessed by in-house mentors and a visiting tutor and building up to teaching classes and making lesson plans. You will progress at a pace that suits you – allowing you to develop and grow as a teacher and build your confidence whilst being supported along the way.

In addition to this, a Trainee Science Teacher will be paid in line with an unqualified teacher which is £18,169 and there are no course fees involved, meaning you can focus on your training and your students rather than covering your costs. You can challenge yourself whilst getting the satisfaction of seeing the results and development of your students first hand.
