Job description: Rocket Science is a boutique visual effects studio collaborating with filmmakers to create stunning visual imagery utilizing artistry, science and technology. The VFX Editor will interact with Coordinators, Artists, Producers, Supervisors and the Technical support team. They will organize and track editorial information as well as the data flowing in and out of the studio.

DESCRIPTION

  • Liaise and collaborate with Editors, Supervisors, Coordinators, Production Managers, and Producers.
  • Manage edits of sequences and shots, and create sequence edits for internal and client approvals.
  • Communicate editorial changes to artists and production staff.
  • Operate playback equipment for internal screenings.
  • Prepare incoming and outgoing data transfers.
  • Generate a range of media such as quicktimes and image files for client delivery.
  • Prepare shot colour corrections or match editorial references when required.
  • Create in-house reels such as company reels, show reels, technical breakdowns, awards reels, etc.
  • Develop and provide improvements for procedures to maintain an efficient workflow.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years’ experience within the visual effects or film industry.
  • DI or editor experience. Technical troubleshooting experience.
  • Highly proficient in Nuke Studio/Hiero, and Davinci Resolve.
  • Working experience with VFX Production-related applications such as Shotgrid and Excel.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent scheduling and task management skills.
  • File encoding/transcoding experience. Ability to demonstrate a solid understanding of video codecs and file formats.
  • Photoshop, Nuke, Fusion, Avid, Final Cut Pro, FTP client software, Aspera Faspex, Frankie, Cinesync, Programming or Scripting experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of lenses, cameras, and colour spaces. Timecode, framerate, and resolution spec is an asset.
