Job Description

The Wellness and Well-Being Specialist, under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, is responsible to coordinate, create, and execute innovative wellness strategies that support a corporate culture of wellness and mental health promotion while leading the Joy at Work Wellness/Wellbeing Strategy. This is a new position at CMH and you need to be a builder, doer, strategist, influencer, collaborator and leader.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Daily management of all aspects of wellness; ensuring that it meets or exceeds the standards established in the Wellness Strategic Plan
  • Administers wellness surveys for the purpose of collecting and analyzing data to drive process improvement
  • Facilitates innovative program changes forged from data analysis
  • Create and present Wellness initiatives to Management for the purpose of increasing engagement in physical and mental health & wellness strategies
  • Drives awareness by attending various unit huddle meetings, departmental and unit based council meetings for the purpose of promoting health and wellness strategies
  • Coordinates specialty programming with outsourced vendors
  • Develop and implement internal promotional campaigns for all wellness initiatives
  • Communicates effectively by developing monthly newsletters, calendars, emails, and general articles to promote wellness
  • Organizes and schedules regular travelling wellness initiates
  • Executes hospital-wide strategies for Mental Health in the workplace
  • Ensure HR practices incorporate Physical & Psychological Health and Safety
  • Generate and analyze key metrics for continual review
  • Develop and deliver curriculum for compassion fatigue, and mental health at work training
  • Orchestrate promotional campaigns and events, such as Annual Wellness Fair
  • Coordinate EAP Provider Lunch and Learn series
  • Collaborate with Desjardins Insurance (DFS) to deliver manager/supervisor mental health training
  • Coordinate and leverage vendor services (i.e. Greenshield Canada, DFS)
  • Represent wellness in hospital wide initiatives, such as staff appreciation, professional practice weeks, etc.
  • Create and maintain a safe and healthy work environment

Education:

  • University Degree in Psychology, or other Health Related Program
  • Post Graduate Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Effectiveness, Health Sciences or other programs related to this position

Experience:

  • Five (5) years of recent relevant experience in a progressively responsible leadership position within a human resources department developing some or all aspects of physical and mental health wellness
  • Demonstrated recent relevant experience in designing, delivering and evaluating educational programs
  • Demonstrated ability to develop needs assessments to determine program direction and content
  • Demonstrated ability to create opportunities to promote and enhance personal health and well being through a variety of mediums
  • Knowledgeable in the delivery of education and information forums accessible to all staff and physicians on all shifts
  • Demonstrated ability to create and sustain an internal and external support network to foster the physical and mental health well being awareness with a goal of nurturing a positive work environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to develop business plans, proposals and funding applications that support all wellness initiatives, awards and promotes the culture of physical and mental health wellness for the CMH Community
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative and engage staff in their total well being is required
  • Demonstrated ability to apply and analyze metrics to monitor program outcomes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication (oral/written/presentation) skills
  • Demonstrated strong presentation, facilitation and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and effectively influence others
  • Demonstrated ability to relate well, engage and motivate staff of all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to model a positive, enthusiastic outlook that encourages physical and mental health promotion and wellness
  • Demonstrated history of inter-professional collaboration with a strengthened ability to foster customer service excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to be self directed with the ability to exercise independent discretion
  • Ability to work well in a dynamic team environment
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, with the ability to deliver creative solutions and resolve issues effectively
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize and effectively manage time in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment is required
  • Superior computer skills (MS Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated commitment to life- long learning
