Job Details
Position Title: Industry Engagement Advisor for Wireless Telecommunications
Status: Part-Time
Hours: 24 hours per week
Faculty/Department: Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology
Campus/Location: Primarily works in-person on North Campus.
Salary: $52/hour
What you will do:
The Industry Engagement Advisor position is designed to engage industry partners and students in their final semester of Wireless Telecommunications graduate certificate for coordinating industry-sponsored projects at North campus. The ideal candidate would be familiar with the Wireless Telecommunications graduate certificate program as well as related fields in industry. Working with the program coordinator, the Industry Engagement Advisor will actively engage industry partners throughout the academic year and recruit industry projects. Industry Engagement Advisor may also engage the students in preparing and coaching them for professional practices, communications skills, ethics, and culture of working with industry partners to fulfill Work-Integrated-Learning (WIL) through industry projects. While the projects are being conducted in the final semester, the Industry Engagement Advisor will play the role of main channel of communications and feedback for industry partners throughout the semester, while maintaining relationships with industry partners and potential employers of graduates.
Qualifications
What you bring to the role:
The successful candidate will possess a degree or 3-year technologist diploma in related fields and a minimum of 5 years of working experience. A strong network in related local industries is an asset. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills as well as ability to take direction and work independently.
Minimum 5 years’ work experience in developing/managing employer or client relationships, staffing, managing projects, co-op or work placement, and/or in management/leadership role in industry involved in human resources for job development for students or recent grad hires. Strong industry knowledge and network of industry partners. Confidence, professionalism, and ability to communicate effectively with individuals at various levels in an organization.
