Job description: Manager, Hotel Business Analysis (Home Based in Canada or USA)

Home based in either Canada or the United States, this position reports to the Vice President, Finance & Business Support, North & Central America, and oversees and monitors all activities of data analytics and data warehousing as it relates to Hotel Finance and Business Support.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide thought leadership and acts as a subject matter expert in the designing and recommending of appropriate analytical approaches and methodology in addressing key issues within the business
  • Leads the Hotel Finance and Business Support data analytics and data warehousing teams in research, development, and implementation of appropriate data systems that lead to improved business performance and achievement of overall business goals
  • Responsible for driving departmental culture and promoting data-driven decision-making, across the business
  • Builds a profile of data and analytics by providing clear data and analytics stories and spreading them across the business
  • Provides management visibility into data-driven insights that inform the business’s strategic direction and KPI’s.
  • Determine the adoption of suitable modular tool-sets that drive innovation and create an advantage for the business
  • Support other business executives and departmental leaders in making strategic, data-driven decisions
  • Work closely with Senior Leadership in an effort to guarantee the delivery of high-quality execution of the diverse array of project deliverables
  • Participate in the formulation of data-driven business decisions and demonstrates delivery against the business’ overall objectives
  • Engage in developing related PNP Standard Operating Procedures, providing materials and communication such during PNP updates for Finance & Business Support
  • Subject matter expert on all aspects of hotel policies and procedures related to Hotel Finance and Business Support analytics.
  • Develop analysis and interpretation of financial data within the region and communicating this in a comprehensible form of meaningful variations in the operations.
  • Responsible for the analysis of P&L accounts, Key Business Indicators, Key Performance Indicators and balance sheet accounts, HMA compliance calculation, on a selected basis and the review and analysis of the monthly internal benchmarking and operational performance analysis reports.
  • Support and manage reporting such as annual budget, capital budgets, rolling forecasts and other ongoing reporting, including but not limited to, Dashboards, GM Scorecard, DOF Scorecard, etc.
  • Develop and establish effective platforms for generating dynamic analysis related to financial planning as well as key business and performance indicators
  • Develop full understanding of platforms being used (i.e. Sun, Hyperion, SmartView, META, BIA, etc.) including planned platforms to be implemented.

Your experience and skills include:

  • Post secondary education in a related field/discipline such as Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Economics, Statistics, Information Systems, Applied Math, Business Administration or an equivalent of the same in working experience
  • Experience in hotel accounting or operations preferred.
  • Ability to work across the matrix within the corporate structure to get tasks done and work cohesively as part of team.
  • Highly responsible and able to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate instructions and sensitive information
  • Detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a collaborative setting
  • Expert skills with Excel, Word & PowerPoint are mandatory in the creation of visually and verbally engaging reports and presentations for senior leadership and key stakeholders
  • Must be skilled in SQL server reporting services, Tableau, analysis services, or any other data visualization tools.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet tight deadlines

Your team and working environment:

  • Home based in either Canada or the United States, this position will be part of the North & Central America Corporate Regional Hotel Finance & Business Support team.
