Hotel Arts Group is a locally owned boutique hotel group that operates 2 hotels, 3 restaurants, and a large events and catering business.
Hotel Arts has recently been awarded the contract at SAIT Begin Dining Tower. This is a centre for student residence of SAIT and ACAD. This position will be based at 151 Dr Carpenter Cir NW, Calgary, AB at the SAIT Polytechnic Campus.
The dining hall is open 7 days a week from 7am – 9pm during normal SAIT semesters and modified in off season times. It is a cafeteria style service with daily short order offerings and a small grab & go selection.
Hotel Arts Group is striving to redefine the stereotypical student residence dining environment by offering comforting and relatable food to make students and staff feel at ease. We will feature a contemporary menu representing various cultures and their cuisines. Nutrition is also an important element to what will be offered.
Job Description
The Hotel Arts Group is currently looking for a Pastry Cook for SAIT Begin Dining Hall. We are looking for someone who will consistently provide quality and production daily in an organized and effective manner. This cook will primarily be working alongside our pastry team to provide excellent culinary service and run pastry production for the Begin Tower Dining Centre.
The successful applicant will possess the following traits:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team effectively
- Will ensure all pastries, buffet style desserts and grab and go desserts are prepared efficiently to standard
- Ability to maintain food quality and presentation standards within a consistency-based framework
- Able to manage time with multiple tasks throughout a shift
- High level of interest with food and have a keen interest in the culinary arts
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Displays attention to detail
- Has flexibility towards their environment
- Will ensure all mise en place is completed in a timely and efficient manner
- Will ensure the cleanliness and proper storage of all food product
- Will ensure all appropriate provincial health regulations and food handling techniques
- Is mindful of maintain a clean and organized work area
- Is aware of food cost, portion, and waste controls
Qualifications &Skills
- 1-2 years’ experience in a similar position
- Flexible weekly schedule
- Physically able to stand and move during the length of shift; able to bend and kneel through shift
