Position Overview:
Reporting to the Finance Supervisor, the Finance Clerk Level 1 is responsible processing purchase orders, invoices, coding, preparing batches for data entry and issuing payments. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with a team of 5 Finance Clerks supporting one another. On the job training/mentoring will be provided.

  • Computer skills is essential
  • Good communication skills in speaking with people in a pleasant and professional manner
  • Skills with coordinating with other people
  • Good work ethic such as reporting to work each day, reliable, dependable and be on time for work.
  • Professional integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence
  • This position will not be required to travel on a daily basis but must be willing and able to travel when requested
  • Be aware of the cultural environment in which Tikinagan Child and Family Services operate.
  • Ability to speak OjiCree or Ojibway is an asset

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processing daily payments as necessary
  • Issuing purchase orders on a daily basis, adhering to policy guidelines
  • Receiving invoices into Purchase Order system, importing into accounting system for payment
  • Follow up and resolving discrepancies with invoices
  • Processing employee travel claims
  • Provide backup /support to other Finance Clerks
  • Reconciling vendor statements on a monthly basis
  • Filing on a weekly/monthly basis
