Job description: Your Opportunity:

The Street Connect program will provide holistic (psychological, physical and social) supports to meet the individual needs of it’s clients. Street Connect will do this by providing outreach, in-reach, health related, and harm reduction services to the homeless adult population that have complex needs. This position may also provide support to the isolation hotel site. As an RPN/RN, you will report to the Care Manager in a fast – paced environment that will challenge the ability to balance nursing care to your full scope and client engagement. You will grow and utilize your excellent nursing skills while positively impacting the patients perception of the care received. In collaboration with the multidisciplinary team you will have the opportunity to work closely with clients, stakeholders, and community agencies while supporting the optimal outcomes for vulnerable adults.

Description:

As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with CARNA or CRPNA. Minimum one year within the last three years’ nursing experience with acute mental health. An understanding of the impact of trauma on substance misuse and mental health concerns. Excellent crisis intervention skills. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with ASIST. Formal training in Trauma Informed Care. Excellent interpersonal communication, time management skills and ability to work in a collaborative team demonstrating adaptability and flexibility.
