The successful candidate will work under supervision of the senior members of the Pensions department, in providing actuarial and consulting services for clients with Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution pension plans.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of actuarial valuations for pension plan funding and accounting
  • Review of portions of work related to actuarial valuations
  • Review data reconciliation and reconciliation of plan assets prepared by other members of team
  • Review of pension benefit calculations and other pension administration
  • Attends meetings, drafts reports, presentations and plan materials for clients
  • Maintains relationships with clients
  • Works with current and prospective clients in order to grow business
  • Works on internal development projects
  • Takes direction from, and supports, senior team members
  • Assists with special projects and tasks, as required

Succeeding as an Actuarial Consultant will require the following core qualifications and skills

  • University degree in actuarial science or mathematics
  • Has or is in the process of obtaining FCIA designation
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with pension plans
  • Strong ambition to pursue a career as a consulting actuary
  • In-depth, detailed knowledge of actuarial valuation process
  • Very good knowledge of pension plan legislation and actuarial standards of practice
  • Combination of excellent analytical and mathematical skills with strong work ethic
  • Exceptional client focus with strong professional acumen
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Dedicated team player, who demonstrates initiative and independence
  • An excellent understanding of personal computers and software, particularly MS Word, Excel, and programming
