Associate Digital Product Owner

The Direct to Client (D2C) Digital Journey team is looking for an Associate Digital Product Owner to engineer best-in-class digital enrolment, self-serve, and omni-channel capabilities for our Clients. In addition, they will lead effective integration of our digital channel solutions into existing operations, with the goal of seamless implementation and adoption.

This role is for a team member on an agile pod, responsibilities include conducting needs analysis, writing user stories, collaborating with others; and supporting the teams to increase productivity and reduce costs. In this role you’ll partner closely with the Digital Product Owner with a shared goal of bringing a product vision to life.

What will you do?

As the Associate Digital Product Owner, your day-to-day accountabilities will blend the tactical needs of preparing user stories for the development team and understanding our product at a very detailed level while also working closely with the PO to strategize and build a vision for the future.

  • Work with multiple stakeholders to ready User Stories aligned to epics and features for your agile scrum team.
  • Be an advocate for simplicity of design and development, in order to deliver to market as effectively and efficiently as possible in order to gain consumer feedback earlier.
  • Be an integral part of ideation sessions – bringing your breadth of business and operations knowledge along with your own passion and vision.
  • Oversee all required changes to completion by implementing timelines, tracking, and closely overseeing risks and dependencies.
  • Monitor already launched digital assets looking for performance optimization.
  • Facilitate and attend meetings with both business partners and team members to elicit requirements, gather key information, present findings, and build consensus.
  • Advocate for exceptional client experiences by representing the voice of the customer and ensuring intuitive product design.
  • Analyzes and documents how systems, processes, procedures, and clients will be impacted by future development.
  • Works with the team (PO / LSA) to conduct analysis on business requests with a focus on the links between processes and systems throughout the organization.
  • Supports testing with a focus on end to end validation.

What you need to succeed?

  • Domain Expertise
  • Progressive experience as a Business Analyst including proficiency with various requirements gathering techniques.
  • Skilled at finding hidden requirements, edge cases, and a “desire to break” attitude.
  • Knowledge or familiarity of overall financial services industry, actuarial science, or insurance domain an asset.
  • Knowledge of relevant business, processes, systems and capabilities
  • Good understanding of privacy, compliance, control and security requirements
  • Skilled in test execution and understanding the outcomes
  • Nice to Have: An understanding of and background in the CSC and/or GRS space
  • Agile Experience
  • Experienced in or excited to learn Agile way of working

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
