Department Overview

The Institutional Equities division of TD Securities provides equity sales, trading, research, underwriting, and distribution from offices in Canada and the US.

As an Equity Research Associate, covering the technology sector, you will have an opportunity to work directly with our equity research team on the publication of company and industry research reports. You will hone research skills, gain a detailed understanding of the technology sector, and obtain insight into the institutional equity business.

Job Description

• Work closely with both of our technology analysts to develop an idea-oriented research team
• Maintain and enhance financial models and databases to forecast earnings
• Compile and evaluate company and industry data
• Develop valuation tools
• Prepare company and industry research reports (e.g. quarterly reporting initiatives and marketing packages)

Requirements

• Excellent financial analysis and spreadsheet skills
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills
• Superior business writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills – must be able to sell ideas
• Ability to work independently under strict deadlines, with high attention to detail
• Candidates with capital markets experience are preferred
• Demonstrated interest in capital markets and the ability to apply finance theory
• Strong work ethic, ability to take initiative, and capable of balancing multiple tasks
• Flexibility and ability to invest long hours as required

Educational Assets:

• Strong preference for finance and business qualifications – must be comfortable working with financial statements
• Designations such as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or CA/CPA would be an asset
• An engineering or computer science degree and/or experience in the technology industry would also be an asset
