What responsibilities will you have in this role?
- Works on development and reconciliation of divisional budget with the Manager, Divisional Finance & Operations and CPLS (Center for Preparatory and Liberal Studies) Finance Team including budget preparation, data entry and monitoring throughout the fiscal year.
- Prepares external project reporting for multiple external projects funded by various Ministries and community partners.
- Sets up organizations (ORG) and allocations of funds as per specifications of contract, processes expenditures, monitors, tracks deadlines and prepares reports and audits information.
- Prepares budget add-ons; allocations of revenue; expense transfers, salary transfers; all expense processing and monitoring; and tracking, investigating, and resolving irregularities.
- Creates templates, data displays, reports, and analysis to support divisional budgeting, financial planning, reporting and presentations.
- Work with other CPLS and Finance staff to ensure that financial work for division lines up with overall divisional budget.
- Ensures college financial practices and policies are being followed.
- Demonstrates proper college financial procedures, policies, and software to Staff.
- Assists with divisional projects and initiatives as required
- Other related duties as assigned.
What qualifications do you need for this role?
- Three-year diploma or degree equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution in Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent (e.g., Finance related).
- Minimum of three years demonstrated practical experience with database systems (e.g. Financial information system) and Microsoft Office. Experience in an educational or financial service environment.
- Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices as they relate to fund accounting and an in-depth knowledge of the accounting requirements and financial business of the College is required.
- Intermediate to advance computer literacy with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Office 365), and financial systems.
- Working knowledge of budgets, accounting, financial management, financial systems, and project management.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgement in problem solving and prioritization.
- Excellent time management skills including the ability to independently manage and monitor progress of projects.
- Superior organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills are required; ability to cope under pressure associated with the management of numerous complex and demanding tasks and competing deadlines; high level of attention to detail.
- Demonstrated commitment in delivering excellent service to others as this is key in supporting the success of our students and our College.
- Effective ability to interact with others and deal with situations in ways that respect diverse backgrounds, experience, and styles.
- Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decision-making processes.
Hours of Work: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
