Job title: Business Finance Partner (BG Services & Solutions – Customer and Change)
Job description: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Finance Partner (BG Services & Solutions – Customer and Change) who will focus on supporting and challenging the BG Services customer and change teams, creating value by improving the quality of decisions, and ensuring that a chosen business strategy delivers the highest financial benefit at an acceptable level of risk.
In this role you will ensure the provision of robust financial reporting and analysis, planning and forecasts to the business and Group.
You will also deliver insight and identify key drivers of business performance and support business operations leadership in the assessment and analysis of risks and controls, including compliance with relevant standards and delegations of authority.
The Job role accountabilities:
General
Provide leadership and challenge within the BG Services & Solutions business to determine strategic directions and recommend appropriate strategic and financial objectives
Understand business strategy and be accountable for its translation into financial impacts, and support its effective communication across Finance
Provide challenge for change by seeking out value opportunities (cost efficiency and margin growth) and drive forwards initiatives critical to delivering the business strategy
Develop deep understanding of key drivers of revenue and costs, cashflow, and risk and opportunities and be conversant with the translation of commercial issues into financial impacts
Ensure effective risk management processes are in place
Provide leadership within the business to ensue robust control frameworks are in place and maintained, including in respect of financial and on-financial GLCs and KFCs.
Plan & Monitor the Business
Regularly review performance against Group Annual Plan and latest forecast, working with the business and finance teams to analyse financial and operational (value driver) variances and recommend corrective action
Deliver the planning and forecasting activity, in line with Group guidance to regularly review the likely direction of business performance along with options to deliver improved performance
Responsible for translating financial business performance into clear executive reporting content (for inclusion in MBRs), using experience to ensure messages are clear, consistent and effective
Provide the sponsorship to reduce the volume of bespoke reporting and demonstrate the usefulness of existing reports and analysis.
Decision Support
Support Finance Managers to complete non-standard/bespoke analysis and deliver proof of concepts, to support business decision making
Identify performance improvement interventions and design means of implementing associated changes. Facilitate and lead relevant parts of the business to implement changes
Identify investments and design means of articulating the value of investments, facilitating and leading relevant parts of the business to deliver business cases.
The Person:
Hold an accountancy qualification as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
Previous Financial Controller experience and experience of Business performance reporting and analysis
Extensive Finance Business Partnering experience
Commercial Contract bidding experience would be advantageous
Skilled in Programme Management including Finance Business Case compilation
Strong ability and experience in operating, leading and influencing at the most senior levels
Excellent team leadership and people management skills and experience
Strong knowledge of the relevant accounting principles (e.g. IFRS 16)
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), including explaining complex concepts in simple terms
Problem solving skills and confident decision-making ability.
**Note – the location of this opportunity is flexible, however you must be prepared to travel to the Windsor office (and/or other British Gas/Centrica offices) as and when required, for the needs of the role.
