Position Overview:
Reporting to the Manager of Health Information Management, the Health Information Professional is responsible for HIM processes, including but not limited to: retrieval, assembly and quality assurance of all patient charts (either in paper, scanned, or electronic form). Verbal, written, and faxed requests for release of information, patient chart completion, monthly coordination of physician chart system and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Secondary school graduate or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a CHIMA recognized HIM program and CHIM certification, member in good standing with CHIMA
  • Previous experience in processing medico/legal release of information
  • Strong Communication, Interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Computer experience/background
  • Demonstrates initiative and the ability to function both independently and as a multidisciplinary team member in a fast paced demanding environment
  • Demonstrates values consistent with SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN’s comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
  • Demonstrates excellent work performance and attendance record
